FUTURE INFRASTRUCTURE

Future Infrastructure—The Impact on the Semiconductor Industry
The SEMI Northeast Forum will bring together industry leaders from along the semiconductor supply chain to discuss their vision of the impact the post-pandemic infrastructure will have on the semiconductor industry.
The semiconductor industry has generally fared well during the recent pandemic, at least in part because it has supplied the technology that has allowed many other industries to adapt. For example, the effectiveness of working from home yet being able to continue to collaborate with colleagues via the web has many companies re-thinking their future infrastructure. Some are reducing their office footprint and re-thinking the location of current and new employees. For semiconductor manufacturing, though, it may not be as simple as taking a laptop home given the need for equipment, whether on the factory floor or in the lab. Still, companies are adapting, and many of the changes may become part of the future infrastructure.
