The 70th annual edition of the IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) will be held in San Francisco from Dec. 7-11. The IEDM is the world’s most influential forum for the unveiling of breakthroughs in transistors and related micro/nanoelectronics devices.
The 2024 IEDM technical program, supporting the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Semiconductor Technology” will consist of more than 270 presentations plus a full slate of events including an evening panel, focus sessions, tutorials, short courses, a career luncheon, supplier exhibit and IEEE/EDS award presentations.
This year’s IEDM will feature:
- An industry-leading 2nm CMOS logic platform, from TSMC
- Extremely scaled nanosheet transistors, from Intel
- Scaled 4F2 DRAM with new vertical channel transistors, from Kioxia Corp./Nanya Tech. Corp.
- Dense, fast, energy-efficient 3D chip for computing-in-memory, from Tsinghua University
- AI simulations to predict troublesome heating, from atoms to systems, from DeepSim/UC-Davis/Stanford
- An integrated image sensor for both color imaging and gauging distance, from Sony
- Novel power device operates at 250◦C, from Virginia Tech/Naval Research Lab/Novel Crystal Technology.
- Five Focus Sessions on topics of intense research interest:
- AI Memory: Technology and Architecture
- Emerging Neural Interface Technologies for Human Interfacing
- Leading Semiconductor Products and Advanced Packaging
- Semiconductor Technology’s Biggest and Best Innovations: Past to Future
