Did you see the title and check your calendar? Did the year just speed up? You thought the 2024 3D InCites Awards didn’t get underway until January!
That was last year. We’ve made some changes to improve the impact of the 2o24 3D InCites Awards, and that means kicking things off in October. One reason is to include the finalists in the 2024 3D InCites Yearbook, which will be released on January 8, 2024.
But doesn’t that usually come out in March? Yes. But we’re changing that too. After all, a Yearbook celebrating the previous year and the year ahead should come out in the beginning of the year, right?
So start revving your engines – because everything kicks off October 2, 2023. Here’s what’s changed, and here’s what you need to know and do about it.

2024 3D InCites Awards Dates
- October 2, 2023 – Applications for consideration for the 2024 3D InCites Awards will be available
- October 20, 2023 – Applications for awards must be received by midnight
- November 27, 2024 – Finalists notified
- January 15, 2024 – Final questionnaires due
- February 5, 2024 – Winners Notified
- March 19, 2024 – Awards Presented in Fountain Hills Arizona
2024 Yearbook Dates
- November 1, 2023 – Deadline for editorial and ad space reserved for the 2024 3D InCites Yearbook
- December 6, 2023 – Ad materials due
- January 8, 2024 – Publication Day
2024 3D InCites Award Technology Categories
Remember Equipment Supplier of the Year, Process of the Year, Design Tool of the Year? Our Member Advisory Board, some of whom had been judges, recommended we eliminate these categories. It forced them to try and compare apples and oranges. Not every category required or demonstrated significant advancement every year.
Instead, we’ve created one category – The Advanced Technology Enablement Awards – that will be awarded to companies and organizations who’ve contributed a game-changer to the acceleration of HI. Did you work in collaboration with another company to achieve this? Then each company gets a statue. Was this the work of an entire consortium? Then the award is named to the consortia.
Some years, there may be three awards given – other years five or six. It depends on the incoming applications and the significance of the achievement. It’s all up to the discretion of the Member Advisory Board.
Lastly, for the Technology Awards, we’ve eliminated the Online Voting. It was too confusing for the nominees, and it dissuaded companies from entering the awards altogether.
Back by Popular Demand
The only technology award that hasn’t changed is the Engineer of the Year. We felt it was important to still recognize an individual for their contribution to the cause.
Both the Sustainablity Award and the Award for DEI have returned and will be awarded by the same selection committees as in the past.
The only change to these awards is the application process, which will follow the same procedure as the technology awards.
The Adele Hars Award for DEI
The SemiSisters lost one of its most vivacious and dedicated members this summer. Adele Hars was a well-known semiconductor industry journalist, known for her work with the SOI Consortium until SEMI acquired the organization. In more recent years, she supported The Ojo-Yoshida Report and SemiEngineering.
Adele was passionate about a lot of things – and one of them was Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. So on our last call, the SemiSisters unanimously decided to rename our SemiSister Award for DEI to the Adele Hars Award for DEI. According to Adele’s husband, Emery Davis,
“This is an industry issue about which Adele felt very strongly, and in her subtle way she always labored to promote DEI in the community she covered.”
New this Year: The Best Place to Work Award
The microelectronics industry is experiencing a talent shortage, and we want to do our part to help. Is your company a great place to work? Tell us why and we’ll nominate you for this year’s Best Place to Work Award. This is the only award that will be decided by the popular vote. Everyone gets one vote, and the votes will be tallied and calculated as a percentage of your employee base.
How to Participate in This Year’s Awards
Award applications open October 2, 2023. To be considered, applicants must complete an online brief questionnaire and submit it no later than midnight on Tuesday, October 20, 2023.
Nominations for Best Place to Work require 150-200 words explaining why the company is the best place to work.
Applications will be reviewed by the 3D InCites Member Advisory Board, and Sustainability and DEI panels, and finalists will be notified by mid-November. All finalists will be acknowledged in the 2024 3D InCites Yearbook.
For the Best Place to Work Award, Voting will open on January 8, and close January January 31, 2024.
For the technology, sustainability, and DEI Awards, Finalists must complete an additional questionnaire by Monday, January 15. These will reviewed by the advisory board and judges. All winners will be notified on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Awards will be presented in a ceremony on March 19, 2024, during the opening of the IMAPS Device Packaging Conference.

The 2024 Yearbook
We’ve moved up the publication of the 2024 Yearbook to January 8th, 2024. That means the deadlines for contributed content and securing your advertising spots are fast approaching.
We are now accepting abstracts for editorial contributions for the 2024 3D InCites. We’re accepting community reflections, technical features, and executive viewpoints. The final article deadline is November 1, 2023. Find the details here in our 2024 Media Kit.
