The ESD Alliance, a SEMI Technology Community, hosts “Understanding Export Regulations Affecting the Electronic System Design Ecosystem” webinar Wednesday, September 15, from 9am until 10am PDT. It features Larry Disenhof, Chair of its Export Committee and Group Director in Cadence’s Government and Trade Compliance Group, an expert on export compliance.
Larry Disenhof represents the electronic system design ecosystem to export administration agencies, giving him a unique understanding of current controls and potential new controls affecting electronic system design software and technologies, in addition to the entire semiconductor industry. As he will explain, U.S. export rules and regulations are complex and detailed, making them confusing and easily misinterpreted, especially when regulations are specific to a country, an industry or an application. Every company within the semiconductor industry needs to be aware of export rules and restrictions because the penalties for not following the rules can be harsh.
The Export Committee is one of the ESD Alliance’s Risk Management Initiatives and works with SEMI’s Policy and Advocacy Office in Washington, D.C. The committee was created 20 years ago with the mission to instruct members on export and other government regulatory issues affecting the industry and each company’s ability to sell and support its products. It also educates government agencies overseeing export regulations and other regulatory organizations in Washington, D.C., about the industry’s products and how they are classified in the Commerce Control List to ensure the correct level of export controls are applied.
