SEMI launched its 20 Under 30 Award Program at SEMICON West in 2022 to recognize the industry’s brightest young leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership, practice productive collaboration, exhibit a commitment to success, make a significant difference, and actively engage in community. Candidates can come from different areas of the microelectronics supply chain including engineering, sales and marketing, and R&D.
SEMICON Europe launched its inaugural 20 Under 30 Award program at SEMICON Europa 2023. Cadence’s Katie Naughton, was among this year’s recipients and we asked her to share her experience with us for the 3D InCites Community. This is her story.
First, I would like to say a huge thank you to the SEMI European Advisory Council for this recognition as part of the 20 Under 30 initiative. I work as a Field Marketing Specialist as part of the Field Marketing and Events team for EMEA at Cadence.
Cadence was my first role since graduating from University in 2019. Looking for jobs throughout the pandemic proved extremely difficult, but fortunately, I was approached by an agency about an Associate Field Marketing role here at Cadence. Since joining, I have been a part of numerous projects as we have seen the in-person events sector start to make a real comeback since the COVID-19 impact. Having started this role around 2 and a half years ago, working solely from home and on virtual events, it was hugely exciting to see this shift to more collaborative in-person work.
Why work in the Semiconductor Industry?
Being in the semiconductor industry has taught me a lot, it is extremely fast-paced and ever-evolving which consistently brings new challenges. The events sector of this industry means no day is ever the same, keeping the learning and progression continual which is a huge motivation. It gives me the opportunities to meet and work with new people and encourages both soft and hard skills development.
20 Under 30
My manager, Madhavi Rao, Field Marketing Group Director, approached me, mentioning she was keen to nominate me for the 20 under 30 award. The program is a new initiative for SEMI, created to shine a spotlight on young professionals who have demonstrated success and leadership qualities.
My experience of this recognition has been inspiring. As a young professional within this industry, or any industry for that matter, initiatives like this are so important in encouraging young people with their motivation, confidence, and self-belief.
