Nov 21, 2022, saw the groundbreaking for WestGate One, a semiconductor campus that will house the first fab in the U.S. to be built specifically for advanced packaging. NHanced Semiconductors (based in Illinois) will be the anchor tenant of the facility. WestGate One is situated in Odon, Indiana, near the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, which is expected to be its primary customer.
WestGate One will be a first-class hub for semiconductor excellence. Three other semiconductor companies have already committed to establishing operations at the site; additional partnerships are expected with industry, government, and academic institutions.
The groundbreaking was attended by Indiana Governor Holcomb along with civic and military leaders. Bob Patti, President of NHanced, was one of nine people wielding ceremonial shovels. In a speech beforehand, he said: “This will be the new Silicon Valley; it’s the next generation of Silicon Valley.”
